Thursday’s explosion at the Milwaukee Brewers’ training camp in Chandler, Ariz., was triggered when a pilot light from a heater ignited a pocket of natural gas released as the heater was being installed, a city official said.
Ten people were reported injured in the clubhouse explosion. Four of those, including Brewer coaches Tony Muser, Herm Starrette and Larry Haney, remained hospitalized for treatment of burns.
Physicians said Haney may be out of the hospital by Monday. Starrette may be back to work in about six weeks, the team said. It was unclear how long Muser would be hospitalized.
