Fullerton : House on Amerige Made Historical Landmark

Share

A house of Queen Anne design on Amerige Avenue has been approved as a local historical landmark, bringing to 26 the number of such properties since 1979.

Planning commissioners recently gave their approval to the two-story house, 520 W. Amerige Ave., based on the architectural style of the building.

Built about 1895, the house was originally owned by Charles Ruddock. After moving to Fullerton in the 1880s, Ruddock later served for eight years as constable and city marshal, according to a city staff report.

Associate planner Bob Linnell said the Ruddock house was among more than 90 “significant properties” identified by a 1979 historical building survey. The new owner, Thoma Moss, is in the process of restoring the property to its original condition.
