Innocent of Extortion Charges, Official Says

NEW YORK —
A former city official pleaded innocent Friday to charges that he extorted $410,000 in payoffs from contractors seeking business from the Parking Violations Bureau.
Geoffrey G. Lindenauer, the bureau’s former deputy director, entered his plea before U.S. District Judge William C. Conner.
