A flock of turkeys flew into a Pacific Gas & Electric Co. power line, killing some of the birds and knocking out electric service to about 2,000 Shasta County residents. PG&E; spokesman Lyle LaFaver said about 25 wild turkeys--who, unlike their domestic cousins, are able to fly--hit a 12,000-volt line near Cottonwood. “Some were killed,” LaFaver said, “but they took the line down with them.”
