A man who was shot in the head during a robbery attempt in a Fontana motel room has sued the motel for more than $5 million. In a lawsuit filed in San Bernardino County Superior Court, Loy R. Holloway Jr., 32, accused Motel 6 of failing to provide him with a safe and unoccupied room. Police said Holloway was shot by a gunman who surprised him in his motel room on Feb. 12, 1985. Holloway’s attorney, Elvin Meek, said his client suffered permanent brain damage after a bullet lodged between the left and right hemispheres of his brain. The bullet was later removed by surgeons.
