Breland (10-0) Knocks Out Aguirre in the First Round
Former Olympic gold medalist Mark Breland of New York took 93 seconds Sunday to knock out Richard Aguirre of San Diego in a scheduled 10-round welterweight fight at Lancaster, Pa.
Breland, who is 10-0 with 5 knockouts, used a jab followed by a right to the head to knock down Aguirre (13-1).
“I was sticking him with jabs and as he was jumping in, I noticed that he was jumping in with his hands down,” Breland said. “After I jabbed, I stepped back and caught him with his hands down. I caught him with a right hand solid to his jaw.”
