Local News in Brief : Cyclist, 35, Strikes Guard Rail, Is Killed
A 35-year-old Van Nuys man was killed Monday morning when his motorcycle struck a guard rail in Sun Valley, authorities said.
The motorcyclist failed to navigate a curve on Wentworth Street near Bromont Avenue at approximately 4:10 a.m., Officer Walter Hogue said. Witnesses said the man was traveling about 80 to 90 m.p.h. along the road, which has a speed limit of 45 m.p.h., Hogue said.
The victim’s name was withheld pending notification of relatives. The man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was not wearing a helmet, Hogue said.
