Egyptian Court Sentences Drug Smuggler to Death

CAIRO —
An Egyptian court Thursday sentenced to death by hanging an Egyptian-born Israeli for attempting to smuggle heroin into Egypt.
Youssef Amin Tahhan was arrested in August as he arrived from Bombay, India, with a small amount of heroin concealed in toothpaste tubes and cigarette packs. He confessed that he bought the heroin in India and was planning to sell it in Israel.
