Persons who thought they understood the San Francisco Downtown Plan when it was made law last September, are now wondering who will get to build what in San Francisco within the next three years.
The city's Planning Commission will set up six review meetings beginning April 17 to select eligible projects. The Downtown Plan has a cap of 2.85 million gross square feet on high-rise growth for the next three years.
Already over 1 million gross square feet of that total has been allocated to three projects--100 First Street, Hills Brothers Plaza and 1000 Front Street. That means remaining proposals will need close scrutiny to determine which will qualify for the remaining 1.7 million gross square feet.
