A woman who spun the wheel of the California Lottery’s weekly “Big Spin” for a friend who died of cancer has won $50,000 for the friend’s three daughters. Pete Kerreos, 57, a San Francisco automobile salesman, was supposed to be one of 16 people spinning the big wheel. But he recently learned he had liver cancer, and he died the night before the “Big Spin” could be held. Dolores Lee, a friend of the family, fought back tears as she spun the wheel for Kerreos. Lottery rules do not require the person owning the ticket to spin the wheel and allow someone else to do it. None of the spinners claimed the top prize of more than $5 million, but four won $100,000.
