Winston Garland scored 15 points as Southwest Missouri knocked off Pittsburgh, 59-52, Wednesday night in an opening-round game of the National Invitation Tournament at Springfield, Mo.
Pitt (15-14) played its final game under retiring Coach Roy Chipman.
The Panthers had a 29-28 lead at intermission, but the Bears (23-7) built a 52-42 lead with 4:22 left.
McNeese State 86, Dayton 75--Jerome Batiste had 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Cowboys surprised the Flyers at Lake Charles, La.
McNeese State (21-10) ran its homecourt winning streak to 21 games, 15 this season. Damon Goodwin scored 31 points for Dayton (17-13).
Providence 72, Boston U. 69--The Friars sank 12 of 13 free throws down the stretch to edge the Terriers at Providence, R.I.
Providence is 16-13. Boston finished at 21-10.
