Santa Ana’s Turner Is MVP in Century League

Eric Turner, a 6-foot 5-inch senior forward who averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds a game to help Santa Ana High School win the Century League basketball championship, has been named the league’s Most Valuable Player.
Saint Coach Greg Coombs, who led Santa Ana to a 20-7 record, has been named Coach of the Year. The rest of the first team consists of Santa Ana’s Bobby Joyce (6-6 sophomore) and Scooti Lynwood (5-11 sophomore), Foothill’s Derek Johnson (6-2 senior) and Mike Grahovac (6-5 senior), El Modena’s Ryan Rycraw (6-1 senior) and Jason Hamlin (5-7 senior), Orange’s Dave Roth (6-5 senior), Tustin’s Rog Middleton (6-3 junior), Santa Ana Valley’s Alonzo Jamison (6-6 senior), Villa Park’s Greg Burton (6-2 senior) and Canyon’s Ralph Garcia (6-6 senior).
The second team consists of Santa Ana’s Jeff Stewart (6-3 junior) and Darrell Bailey (6-0 junior), El Modena’s Corey Ahart (5-11 senior) and Darren DeFeo (6-1 senior), Foothill’s Alan Schlines (6-6 senior), Tustin’s Kevin Anderson (6-0 senior), Orange’s Mark Holman (6-0 senior), Villa Park’s Steve Barnett (6-1 senior) and Canyon’s Stephen Ream (5-10 senior).
