A leak of rust inhibitor chemicals from a building heating system caused hospitalization of 22 people and the evacuation of an undetermined number of residents from a three-story dormitory building at the Westwood Veterans Administration Hospital complex Friday, a Los Angeles City Fire Department spokesman said.

The chemical spill occurred while a bingo game was in progress. The victims were treated for nausea at the VA Hospital and UCLA Medical Center, the spokesman said.
