Districts Win Grants Totaling: Five Orange County school districts have won a total of $67,361 in grants from a group of corporations that jointly give money through the California Educational Initiatives Fund.

The grants to the Orange County schools were distributed Thursday. Officials said the grants are to improve school operations or basic skills in school, language, mathematics, science and computer literacy.

Statewide, the foundation awarded 71 grants totaling $700,622. The five Orange County districts getting grants, and the amount they received, were: Anaheim Union High School District, $11,786; Fullerton Joint Union High School District, $12,000; Huntington Beach Union High School District, $15,025; Irvine Unified School District, $16,550, and Los Alamitos Unified School District, $12,000.

The corporations providing the money for the foundation’s grant program are BankAmerica Foundation, Chevron USA Inc., Pacific Telesis Foundation, First Interstate Bank of California Foundation, McKesson Foundation, R. J. Reynolds/Del Monte Corp., Security Pacific Foundation and Wells Fargo Foundation.
