Colts-Baltimore Feud Over

The Indianapolis Colts announced today that they have reached agreement with Baltimore to keep the NFL team in Indianapolis, ending the dispute that arose between the two cities when the franchise was shifted in 1984.

The Colts said the tentative agreement will “eliminate uncertainty as to a return of the Colts NFL franchise to Baltimore” and lead to dismissal of all suits pending as part of the team’s move to Indianapolis. The Colts agreed to pay $400,000 to Baltimore to cover legal fees and to support the city’s efforts to regain an NFL franchise if the league moves to expand before April 1, 1989.
