The Nation : GE Workers End Walkout

Share

Union members striking three General Electric Co. plants at Lynn, Mass., voted overwhelmingly to end a monthlong walkout by 7,400 employees that had halted work on more than $1 billion in military contracts. “It’s a just and fair settlement,” said Paul Sullivan, a negotiator for Local 201 of the International Union of Electronic, Electrical, Technical, Salaried and Machine Workers. Many of the striking employees were expected to return to work today. Sullivan estimated that 90% of the approximately 4,000 union members at a brief outdoor rally approved the pact in a show of hands.
