7 Colombian Police Killed in Ambush by Guerrillas

BOGOTA, Colombia —
Leftist guerrillas ambushed a police convoy in southwestern Colombia Wednesday, killing seven policemen, and officials said that fierce fighting was continuing in the mountainous area Thursday.
The ambush, against a convoy of about 100 policemen, occurred near the village of Caloto in Cauca province. Officials said an undetermined number of guerrillas had died in the clashes.
