Santa Monica : Architects Study Civic Site

Share

Barton Myers Associates, an architectural firm based in Westwood and Toronto, is conducting a six-month economic and planning study of possible development of Santa Monica’s Civic Auditorium site.

The $75,000-study will focus on cultural and civic uses of the 11-acre site as well as on revenue-generating uses, such as hotels, City Manager John Jalili said.

The site is on Pico Boulevard between 4th and Main streets, immediately south of the Santa Monica Courthouse.

Possible options include refurbishing the existing Civic Auditorium or razing it and building an all-new complex, Jalili said.

The staff and the public will have opportunities to review the report before the City Council decides how to proceed, he said.
