Kings to Play at Vancouver Tonight

Share

The Kings will play the Vancouver Canucks here tonight at the Pacific Coliseum in a key Smythe Division game.

The Kings and Canucks are tied for the fourth and final playoff spot in the division with 53 points apiece. Winnipeg is in third place with 56 points. Winnipeg will play at Calgary tonight and has a two-game series against the Kings at the Forum next week.

Left wing Dave (Tiger) Williams of the Kings will miss tonight’s game. Williams got his third game misconduct penalty of the season in the Kings’ 7-3 win over Calgary Wednesday night and, under National Hockey League rules, is automatically suspended for the following game.

The NHL turned down the Kings’ appeal of Williams’ suspension.

“Those things aren’t appealable,” NHL spokesman Gary Meagher said from the league office in Montreal. “I can’t recall one ever being appealed (successfully). It stands.”
