A former second fiddle and a former undertaker will be appearing on Orange County stages on either side of the Easter holiday.

It was as a sideman with laid-back Southern California rock artists like Jackson Browne and Linda Ronstadt that multi-talented David Lindley first became known before embarking on a solo career in the late 1970s.

Lindley, whose records have incorporated folk music from Jamaica and Africa to Greece and China, will play tonight at 8:30 at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano with his band, El Rayo-X.

Kentucky-born singer John Conlee first gained recognition in 1978 with his Top 5 hit “Rose Colored Glasses” and has been a consistent force on the country charts ever since.

Conlee, who once worked as an undertaker before stepping up to the microphone, returns to the Crazy Horse Steak House in Santa Ana for shows Monday at 7 and 10 p.m.
