Thailand Seeks to Trade Sugar for U.S. Guns

Thai parliamentarians recently proposed a barter exchange of sugar for U.S. military hardware, a legislator said Friday.
Sugar is one of Thailand’s leading foreign exchange earners. Last year the United States ranked fifth among countries importing Thai sugar. The United States is the country’s principal supplier of arms.
