An employee of the Century Plaza apparently stabbed himself and then leaped or fell from the 19th floor of the hotel, where authorities found a woman hotel worker fatally stabbed in a 19th-floor room. The identities of the victims were not released. Firefighters who arrived on the scene shortly after 10 a.m. found the man lying on the ground with knife wounds to his chest and throat. He was rushed to UCLA Medical Center, where he died. It was unclear whether the man fell or jumped from the upper floor, but witnesses told firefighters that the man grabbed onto the balcony of each floor as he descended, finally plunging to his death from the eighth floor.
