A 12-year-old boy was accidentally shot and wounded Tuesday when a pistol that was being cleaned discharged, police said.
Matthew Alan Moss had gone into the backyard of a friend’s house in the 3400 block of North Mountain View Drive shortly after 7 a.m., when a gun being cleaned by David Mass, 30, discharged, sending a bullet through a garage wall and into young Matthew’s mouth, Detective Richard Hansen said.
Matthew was taken to Children’s Hospital, where officials declined to comment on his condition, at the request of his parents.
Police are investigating the incident.
