County public health officials have stopped an Arco AM-PM Mini Mart in Chula Vista from selling any food and are conducting searches of all Mini Marts in South Bay after store officials received two complaints in the area about food tampering in the last four days, a county health official said.

Anyone who bought food--especially hot dogs, beverages or dips--from the store at 800 Palomar Road is asked to return it if they suspect food tampering, said Lyn Wallis of the health department.

Officials don’t know how long the alleged tampering has been going on, said Wallis. Health officials were notified of possible tampering Tuesday after someone reported finding glass in some yogurt bought at the store Monday night, the official said.

So far, no evidence of tampering has been found at any other Mini Mart, but Mini Marts throughout the county are being alerted to possible tainting, said Wallis.
