Artesia : $4-Million Project Begins

The city and a San Bernardino developer have reached an agreement to build a three-story, $4-million shopping and medical center on the corner of Gridley Road and 183rd Street across from Los Cerritos shopping mall.

About a third of the 30,000-square-foot project--which will be called Gridley Plaza--will be occupied by physicians. The ground floor of the center will be retail space, mostly for small boutiques and speciality shops. Ground has been broken for the center, and completion of the project is expected in early 1987.

Developer of the project is Larcon Development Inc. Bellwood General Hospital, an 85-bed facility in Bellflower, is involved in the development of the medical offices.
