Countywide : State Disability Checks Scheduled for Mailing
- Share via
Officials hope to begin mailing about 2,500 state disability checks today that were delayed a week because of computer breakdowns in the county distributing office.
“Phones have been ringing off the hook” for two days because of the delay, said Harold Delperdang, an operations supervisor for the Disability Insurance Claims office in Santa Ana.
Delperdang said the checks should be received by the end of the week.
Since March 24, the computer has “only been up for a couple of days,” Delperdang said.
The computer became fully operational Wednesday, he said, and much of the day was spent feeding the computer two days’ worth of information that had been lost from the memory bank. Delperdang said his office distributes about 25,000 checks a month totaling $12 million.
He said employees will work overtime to ensure the office is caught up on its payments by Friday night.
