NCAA Gymnastics : Individual Title Goes to Louis

Jon Louis of Stanford won the NCAA men’s college gymnastics all-around title Friday night, beating runner-up Brian Ginsberg of UCLA, to lead his team into the finals today against Arizona State and Nebraska.

Arizona State was in first place after Friday night’s preliminaries with a score of 283.10 points. Nebraska was second with 282.70 , followed by Stanford with 282.15.

Defending all-around champion Wes Suter of Nebraska was fourth after slipping on the pommel horse.

Louis finished with 57.60 points in the six events. Louis said his goal coming into the meet was just to help Stanford qualify for today’s finals.

“Winning it as an individual came as a great surprise to me,” Louis said.
