Lazer Coach Is Hit With $10,500 Fine

Coach Peter Wall of the Lazers was assessed fines totaling $10,500 and suspended for four games by the Major Indoor Soccer League Saturday for incidents in a game last Monday night at St. Louis.

Wall was fined $5,000 for striking a game official with a thrown object, another $5,000 for conduct detrimental to the league for instructing his players not to challenge St. Louis player attacks, and another $500 for communicating with his players after being ejected from the game.

The league also suspended Wall from the Lazers’ final game of the season Saturday night at Tacoma, which was won by the Stars, 4-3, and instructed him to send an apology to the St. Louis Steamers and their fans within five days.

The league also fined Lazers Tim Harris, Gregg Willin, Beto (Roberto Dos Santos), George Fernandez, Val Fernandez and Batata (Nilton Da Silva Pinheiro) $500 each for their conduct.

The Lazers had 12 penalties and 30 penalty minutes in the 8-2 loss.
