The Ontario Chamber of Commerce has presented a Special Award of Merit for architectural design to Ontario Airport Business Park, a 28-acre development of Ellis Sloan Burnett Properties of Santa Monica.

Brent Hunter, chamber executive director, said that he especially liked the fact that the design on the front of the building was carried around the entire building and that the screening walls for the truck bays were set back so as to give a more open look.

The $13-million project is within the California Commerce Center at Ontario, a 1,350-acre master-planned business park adjoining Ontario International Airport. Its first phase includes a 165,000-square-foot distribution building and a six-building, multitenant light industrial office complex totaling 130,000 square feet.

It was designed by Coleman & Caskey Architects of Newport Beach, and is a joint venture with Weyerhauser Mortgage Co.
