Investigators Discover More Bodies at Site of S.F. Blaze
Investigators Tuesday pulled three, or possibly four, more bodies from the ruins of an industrial complex destroyed in a spectacular explosion and fire.
Trained dogs were brought in to help search for other victims in the rubble of the two-story Bay View Industrial Park, which was destroyed in Friday’s fire.
“We believe we have found nine bodies, but it’s uncertain because they were charred so badly,” said Lt. Gary Meltzer of the county arson task force. “We think the death toll could go beyond nine. It’s really hard to say how many bodies we have,” he said.
Three or four bodies were recovered Tuesday morning, Meltzer said. Four others were found Monday and one body was found Sunday.
Two of 22 people injured in the fire remain in serious condition at hospitals.
