Mindy Moore offset two bogeys with eight birdies Thursday to shoot a six-under-par 66 and take the lead in the first round of the $200,000 Kyocera Inamori golf tournament at Bernardo Heights Country Club.

Pat Bradley, winner of last week’s Dinah Shore tournament, and Val Skinner, who finished second, trailed Moore by three strokes. They were tied for second at 69 with Hollis Stacy, Patty Sheehan, Atsuko Hikage and Laurie Rinker.

Moore, who complained of a stomach ache before her round, had a birdie on the par-5 17th hole (her eighth) with a three-foot putt, then made the turn with birdies on Nos. 1, 2 and 3. She had earlier birdies on Nos. 11 and 14.

Bogeys on the par-4 fifth hole and the par-5 13th kept Moore from taking an even larger lead. “Maybe I should be sick more often,” she said.

Moore, who has yet to win on the LPGA tour, finished in the pack at the Dinah Shore and missed the cut the week before at Tucson.
