AND WAIT, THERE’S MORE: And are those raucous Texas rockers the Fabulous Thunderbirds going Hollywood or what? First, the band had its hit single, “Tuff Enuff,” in the Ron Howard film “Gung Ho.” And now the group is actually appearing in a film, playing themselves in “The Light of Day,” a film shooting in Chicago with Michael J. Fox and Joan Jett. (Actually, “Tuff Enuff” appears in another recent film, a low-budget women-in-prison shocker called “The Naked Cage,” but somehow the band’s record label forgot to include that flick in their publicity releases.) . . . The Blasters have a new guitarist: ex-James Harman Band blues-slinger Hollywood Fats, who’ll make his debut with the group June 6 and 7 at the Palace. . . . Following in the footsteps of “Sun City,” several local composers have put out a new single called “Anti-Apartheid Showdown.” The spirited message song was written and produced by J. D. Hall, Craig Harris and Bradley Bobo. It’s available at local stores and by mail order, from Sciscoda Records, 120 S. Everett St., Glendale 91205. . . . And our Album Title of the Week award goes to Love Tractor, whose new album is called “Success Through Laziness and Attitude.” The hits collection is due out later this month from Big Time Records.
