Bus Driver, Not Thanked When He Returned Money, Gets $5,000 Now

PHILADELPHIA — A bus driver who returned $95,000 that dropped out of an armored truck might not have gotten a thank-you at the time, but he will get a $5,000 reward, Brink’s Inc. said.
Maurice McDonald, 29, saw the canvas bag fall out of a Brink’s truck as it turned a corner last week. He stopped his bus, got the money and promptly alerted a Brink’s office. Two guards who retrieved the bag did not thank him, he said.
Later, Brink’s security chief Martin Crowe said McDonald will be given $5,000 “to reward that kind of honesty. We’re hoping it will encourage others to be so honest.”
“I’m speechless,” McDonald said. “I’m happy. I guess this will show others that when you find something that doesn’t belong to you, you might as well give it back.”
