Cool Cats

Share

Q: What is a comfortable household temperature for cats? I like to sleep in a cool room, under warm covers, but I am concerned that it is too cool for my two cats. At what temperature should I keep the thermostat?

A: A healthy adult cat with a normal hair coat can tolerate a wide range of temperatures. Any reasonable indoor thermostat setting that is comfortable for you (60 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit) should be fine for your cats. An outdoor cat can tolerate the thermometer dipping down into the low 30s, but a house pet cannot.
