In an effort to expand its product line, Hybridoma Sciences Inc., a Fountain Valley-based biotechnology firm, has signed a memorandum of understanding to acquire Covalent Technology Corp., a research and development subsidiary of KMS Industries in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Reg Jones, a spokesman for Hybridoma, said Covalent’s assets were “minimal” and that Hybridoma was mainly interested in a diagnostic device developed by Covalent that tests bodily fluids. Jones would not disclose the precise nature of the device, but said that Hybridoma feels the device is “applicable to a wide range of diagnostic tests.”
