KOKOMO, Ind. —
A school official on Monday said 19 pupils stayed home from Western Middle School because of the presence of Ryan White, the teen-age AIDS victim who returned to class last week under a judge’s order.
Phyllis Schumacher, secretary to Principal Ron Colby, also said one pupil withdrew from school, bringing to five the number who have left since Ryan, 14, a seventh grader, was readmitted Thursday. The school has an enrollment of 365 students.
