Showcase Season

For the 22nd year, the Pasadena Junior Philharmonic Committee has produced its annual showcase house of design, which opens to the public today. Proceeds from tours of the house are used to support the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The site of this year’s event is a Mediterranean manor at 1125 Rosalind Road, San Marino, built in 1931 by Joseph Kucera for Collis Huntington Holladay and his wife, Margaret. The house has been totally redesigned and redecorated, inside and out, by local interior designers and landscape architects.

At right and above are views of the elegantly remodeled master bedroom, designed by Libby Ferraro. Carpeting is by Stark; draperies by Exclusive Drapery Service, Glendora; headboard and comforter by Valley Bedspread, Northridge; custom upholstery by Beverly Interiors; fabrics from Scalamandre and Clarence House; vanity from Urman & Martzell, North Hollywood; antiques, accessories from Millie Hampshire; flowers, Jacob Maarse, Pasadena.

The house will be open April 20 to May 18; Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.. Advance tickets, $8; at the door, $10; (818) 792-4661.
