On land and sea, in winter and summer, ABC’s “Wide World of Sports” has roamed the globe for a quarter of a century in pursuit of “the thrill of victory, the agony of defeat.”
To celebrate the program’s silver anniversary, ABC will present a prime-time “Wide World of Sports 25th Anniversary Special” Saturday from 8 to 10 p.m. on Channels 7, 3, 10, 42.
Jim McKay, who has been with “Wide World” since it started in April, 1961, will host. The special will recap memorable moments and feature personalities who’ve been spotlighted over the years.
