A 3-year-old boy found by his mother with a gunshot wound may have fatally shot himself with a revolver he found under a mattress, Los Angeles police said. Charles Bradley Jr. died shortly after arrival at Martin Luther King Jr. General Hospital. Investigators believe that the child found a revolver hidden under the mattress by an uncle, Lt. William Pruitt said. “At this point it looks accidental, but we’re not done questioning everybody,” he said. The boy, his mother and three other children were spending the night at an aunt’s apartment in Watts. The mother, Donna Davis, told police she heard a noise upstairs, went to a bedroom to investigate and found the boy lying on the floor, shot through the mouth, and a revolver lying near his head. The boy’s uncle, who was not identified, told police that he had found the gun outside the apartment and had hidden it under the mattress.
