Local News in Brief : $154,000 Fund to Build Trails at Hansen Dam
Officials announced Saturday that a $77,000 grant from the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, matched by a $77,000 donation from the state Department of Parks and Recreation, will be used to build about two miles of equestrian trails in the Hansen Dam area of Pacoima.
At a small ceremony at Hansen Dam marking the grants, the conservancy’s executive director, Joseph T. Edmiston, praised state Assemblyman Richard Katz (D-Sepulveda), Los Angeles City Councilman Howard Finn and Rep. Howard Berman (D-Studio City) for helping to secure the grants.
The money will be used by the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks to supplement about 12 miles of equestrian trails at the dam.
