Skorge Is Named Metro’s No. 1 Swimmer After He Leads Pierce to Second Place
Norm Skorge of Pierce College won three individual events and swam on a victorious relay team to help the Brahmas place second in the Metropolitan Conference swim finals at Ventura College.
Pierce scored 362 points in the three-day event that ended Saturday to place second behind conference champion Santa Monica (404). Valley College placed fifth with 138 points; Canyons failed to score and placed last in the 10-team conference.
Skorge was named the conference swimmer of the year and set the Metro record in the 100-meter butterfly with a 51.11 clocking. He also won the 50 freestyle (21.99), the 200 butterfly (1:57.3) and was a member of the victorious 400 medley relay team (3:38.0).
