Fernando G. Hernandez, 25, was arraigned Monday in San Fernando Municipal Court on charges that he shot and killed a youth and wounded a man outside a Sylmar bar two weeks ago, authorities said.
Hernandez was held in lieu of $250,000 bail, Los Angeles Police Detective Cliff Ruff said.
Police accused Hernandez of killing Jesus Gonzales Jr., 16, of Sylmar, and wounding a 20-year-old companion in a gang-related shooting. Police declined to release further information about the wounded man.
The shooting followed a dispute at the Texas Ranch Bar and Grill in the 12800 block of San Fernando Road on April 16 after Gonzales was caught trying to break into a car, Ruff said. Hernandez, a Mexican citizen who lived in the back of the bar, was arrested Thursday, Ruff said.
