Norwalk : Banas Halts Recount
Former Councilman Lou Banas halted a recount last week after it cost him $244 to pick up one vote.
Banas, who lost by 28 votes to Grace M. Napolitano, had asked City Clerk Mary Paxon for a recount beginning with Precinct 18. In that precinct, where Napolitano resides, she beat Banas by 263 to 123. However, the recount turned up one more vote for Banas and one more vote for Napolitano.
The recount will cost Banas $244 for city workers and election consultants, Paxon said.
In an interview, Banas said that he halted the recount after the 18th Precinct re-tally because he was satisfied that the election results are accurate.
