Governor Will speak to the combined Bar associations of Glendale, Burbank and Pasadena today.

Assembly Floor Action: Crime: Approved and sent to the governor on a 61-0 vote a bill (AB 2049) by Assemblyman Richard Katz (D-Sepulveda) to require trial judges to add five years to the sentences of criminals for previous convictions on serious felonies.

Statue of Liberty: Approved and sent to the Senate on a 55-9 vote a bill (AB 3870) by Assembly Speaker Willie Brown (D-San Francisco) to allocate $50,000 from the state general fund to the Statue of Liberty restoration project.

Forestry Board: Approved and sent to the Senate on a 41-32 vote a bill (AB 2697) by Assemblyman Byron D. Sher (D-Palo Alto) to authorize the Speaker of the Assembly and the Senate Rules Committee to appoint four of the nine members of the state Board of Forestry now appointed by the governor.

Bills Introduced: Libyans: AJR 95 by Assemblyman Wayne Grisham (R-Norwalk) requests President Reagan to expel all Libyans residing in the United States on temporary visas to prevent possible terrorist acts.

Senate Committee Action: Lawyers: The Judiciary Committee approved a bill (SB 1543) by Sen. Robert Presley (D-Riverside) to hire an independent monitor to check on the progress of the State Bar in processing lawyer discipline cases. A 7-0 vote sent the bill to the Appropriations Committee.

Bills Introduced: Nuclear Power Plants: SJR 54 by Sen. Barry Keene (D-Benecia) requests the federal government to lift the $560-million-per-accident liability limit for new nuclear power plants and asks Congress to allow the states to require a waiver of the limit for operation of existing nuclear power plants.
