Top-ranked Cal State Fullerton split a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. softball doubleheader against No. 13 Cal Poly Pomona Wednesday night at Fullerton, winning the opener in 12 innings, 1-0, and dropping the second game, 1-0.

The Titans (18-3 in the PCAA and 46-7 overall) won when Chenita Rogers singled over the head of the drawn-in left fielder to score Kristin Goodall from third base. Goodall had doubled in a pinch-hitting role and moved to third on an error. Susan LeFebvre (27-4) got the victory, despite an impressive performance by Pomona’s Rhonda Wheatley, who pitched a perfect game through nine innings.

The Broncos (14-7, 31-14) scored an unearned run in the sixth inning of the nightcap and held on for the victory. Wheatley reached first on an error, was sacrificed to second and advanced to third on an illegal pitch by Fullerton’s Connie Clark. Wheatley scored when Jenny Moore was safe on a throwing error.
