The Food and Drug Administration, citing unexpected and puzzling reactions to a newly approved pain reliever, said it is telling physicians to prescribe the drug “only with caution.” The FDA said it has received 16 reports of back and flank pain and decreased kidney function among patients taking the prescription pain reliever Suprol, which has been on the market for less than four months. All 16 recovered after discontinuing the drug.
