SDSU Women Favored in PCAA Tennis
San Diego State, with four nationally ranked players, is the favorite to win the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. women’s tennis championships that start at 9 this morning at UC Irvine.
The No. 9 Aztecs (14-10) are led by Monique Javer (ranked 15th), Anne Moeller (No. 23), Cindy MacGregor (No. 31) and Cathy Berry (No. 62). The doubles team of Moeller and Berry are ranked No. 5 in the nation.
Challenging the Aztecs will be the University of the Pacific (16-7), Cal State Long Beach (16-9), Hawaii (14-11), UC Irvine (15-14), Nevada Las Vegas (10-19), UC Santa Barbara (9-11) and Cal State Fullerton (6-17).
The tournament continues Saturday morning at 9 with the finals starting Sunday at 11.
