SOUND-TRACK FEVER: The Talking Heads always do...

SOUND-TRACK FEVER: The Talking Heads always do things a little bit differently, so it should come as no surprise that David Byrne is preparing not one but two albums to accompany the fall release of his new film, “True Stories.” (The movie, also directed by Byrne, features an unusual cast of characters from Virgil, Tex.) One album, dubbed the official new Talking Heads record and due in August, offers original songs from the film (which include such originals as “Wild Wild Life” and “Love for Sale”) performed by the band. The other, dubbed the official “True Stories” sound track, will feature the same songs performed by the actors in the film, who include Swoosie Kurtz and Pop Staples. And if you don’t want to stand in line to see the movie, you can always buy the book (by some strange marketing coincidence also called “True Stories”), which is also due in the fall from Penguin. It includes an annotated screenplay, the “true stories” from tabloids that inspired the characters, Byrne story boards, song lyrics and Texas photographs by William Eggleston and Len Jenshel.
