Mexico to Play Hamburg Tonight in Soccer Match

Mexico’s national soccer team, tuning up for the World Cup, will play Hamburg of West Germany at the Coliseum tonight at 6.

Mexico is undefeated in 16 games at the Coliseum. In its last appearance, on April 13, Mexico beat Uruguay, 1-0, before 46,467 fans.

Hamburg includes four players on West Germany’s national team. They are Felix Magath, Ditmar Jacobs, Manford Kaltz and Wolfgang Rolff. Also on the Hamburg team is Gerard Presser, a defender for Belgium’s national team.

Mexico will be back at the Coliseum May 17 to play England’s national team in the first half of a doubleheader that also matches World Cup teams from South Korea and Peru.

Mexico is one of the favorites to win World Cup ‘86, which begins May 31 in Mexico. The championship match is June 29.
