Kiev Soccer Team Wins Second European Title

Dynamo Kiev of the Soviet Union defeated Atletico Madrid, 3-0, Friday night in a soccer match at Lyon, France, to win the European Cup Winners Cup.

Dynamo Kiev, whose home is near Chernobyl, where a nuclear accident took place last week, became the first Soviet team to win a European trophy a second time. It previously won in 1975.

“As far as the events of Chernobyl go, my players were aware of it but were not disturbed in their preparation for the match,” Dynamo Coach Valeri Lobanovski said.
